In compliance with ICAO/IATA requirements, dangerous goods training has shifted to a competency-based model (CBTA) as of 1 January 2023. This approach emphasises tailored competency requirements for each job function, as defined by each country’s regulatory authority.
In South Africa, SACAA oversees civil aviation safety and has outlined specific CBTA assessment standards. These assessments, conducted by SACAA-approved organisations, are typically one-on-one and performed in the student’s work environment. Ideally, assessments occur about one month after completing theoretical training, with a maximum timeframe of three months. Successful participants receive a competency card valid for two years.
Established in 1995, Hazpak has built a reputation and become one of the top chosen partners in dangerous goods packaging for air, sea, and road freight.
